Spreading the Wealth

President-Elect Barack Obama talked about "spreading the wealth" while on the campaign trail. Many took this as a Marxist remark about taxing those with higher incomes and giving to those that have less. I, being a much deeper thinker, looked at spreading the wealth in a different way.

What skills sets do you possess? What experience do you have? What is your background? How can you use what you know to help our Nation?

If you are well skilled in construction maybe you can help "spread the wealth" by utilizing your skills and helping those that are less fortunate. By working closely with the United Way and several charitable organizations, you can truly make a difference by working on construction projects that benefit those that do not possess the knowledge or background or even the assets available. Case in point, a local construction company assisted a homeless shelter for women and children by building a deck for their facility.

What if you are skilled in writing resumes? How about visiting a homeless shelter and volunteering time to help those seeking employment write a resume?

What if you're a business owner and can afford to donate goods and services to those less fortunate? Wouldn't that make you feel much better knowing that you were part of an overall solution?

Whatever your skill set may be, utilizing them to better our Nation is important. Volunteering to "spread the wealth" by being your "brohters keeper" can be much more beneficial than taxing those with more income.

Volunteer today!
