Welcome 2009! I sure as heck hope it is better than 2008 in many respects.
1. The US economy took a beating in 2008. This caused homes to be foreclosed, people to lose their jobs and for a while, gasoline prices to soar to record prices. Hopefully with a new President and administration, there will be a more optimistic outlook as to where our Nation will be heading.
2. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue with no real end in sight. There has been mention of pulling out of Iraq within the next 18 months. We'll see what happens. As for Afghanistan, there will need to be a larger influx of troops if the US and our Allies are to contain the Taliban. We have to strengthen their government, help them rebuild their country and assist in a new crop that will bring them just as much money as the poppy plants do.
3. Finally, I'm not sure of the number of people who volunteered to help others in 2008. I'm sure the numbers have increased since the economy has devastated many financially. I am confident that more people will volunteer to assist those that need help. If you are one of millions that are looking to get involved, check with your local United Way and see what opportunities may be available.
As for resolutions, I'm going to attempt to improve a few aspects of my life, mentally, physically and financially. That's it!
I wish all of you that read my blog, happiness, prosperity and friendship throughout 2009!
Keep in touch!

Happy New Year to you!
CNN had an interesting question on their webpage yesterday. A paraphrase of how it was written, "Do you think 2009 will be....(a) Hopeful or (b) Hopeless"
I didn't answer, so I'm not sure how the majority feels, but I didn't really want to know the answer. As with many things, different people will choose their own answer, and I knew that how I feel about 2009 (hopeful) is really what is most important.
