July 2010 will go on record as being one of the hottest months in the Washington, DC area. How do I know? I have felt it and will continue to feel it for the next few days. Whew!
People seem to complain about the heat when it gets this hot. There seems to be no other topic of discussion.
While at work the other day, just walking down the hall, I passed a co-worker and the only thing we said to each other was that it was hot outside. While an interesting shortlived topic, it does get boring after awhile.
It's just that the heat and the temperature outside and ways of cooling off are on top of the list. Topics such as, "What are you doing this weekend?" is answered by, "Depends on how hot it is." Or how about, "Stay cool this weekend" followed by, "Yeah I'll be sitting under a sprinkler" is a funny retort. (Picture that in your mind!)
As for me, I like the heat; especially while sitting on the beach with a cool tropical drink, listening to Caribbean music and basking in the sunlight.
Yep, that's the ticket. Oh wait. I don't have a ticket. I guess I'll have to use my coupon and experience the "heat" on my deck.
Another Bahama Mama, please?

Three Day Weekend
Today is the last day of a three day weekend. Some of us are fortunate enough to have such, while others, depending where they work, do not. I'm one of the lucky ones.
Combined with some leave time, I have been away from the office since 2 October. Yep! Pretty nice vacation. My wife and I went away on vacation to get some, "rest and relaxation" from everyday life. Needless to say, it was fantastic and we felt pretty good about being away. Returning was a different story. We wished we were still on vacation.
Life is slowly getting back to normal. I have sorted through the mail, unpacked my bags, caught up on my emails and the bills I had to pay. I made the obligatory phone calls to family and now I'm trying to catch up on some school work. Time to get back to the hustle and bustle of life.
We are already looking forward to the next trip. Where will we go? Not sure yet. But where ever it is, it better be warm, there better be a beach and some cool tropical drinks with umbrellas. Now THAT is what I call a vacation!
The vacation is over. The three day weekend is winding down and I return to work tomorrow, 13 October. I basically know what awaits me. I will get down to work and start planning my next vacation.
That's it for now. Fall is hitting us slightly. The weather is cold compared to where we were. The leaves are turning their autumn colors. I might have to cut the grass one, maybe two more times. Thanksgiving is around the corner, followed by Christmas. This time of year seems to go by quickly. But along with the upcoming holidays, come more days off, more, "vacation" time and a little more rest and relaxation.
Yep, another three day weekend has come and gone. Time for life to get back to normal.
Later!
