It's HOT!

July 2010 will go on record as being one of the hottest months in the Washington, DC area. How do I know?  I have felt it and will continue to feel it for the next few days. Whew!

People seem to complain about the heat when it gets this hot. There seems to be no other topic of discussion.

While at work the other day, just walking down the hall, I passed a co-worker and the only thing we said to each other was that it was hot outside. While an interesting shortlived topic, it does get boring after awhile.

It's just that the heat and the temperature outside and ways of cooling off are on top of the list. Topics such as, "What are you doing this weekend?" is answered by, "Depends on how hot it is." Or how about, "Stay cool this weekend" followed by, "Yeah I'll be sitting under a sprinkler" is a funny retort. (Picture that in your mind!)

As for me, I like the heat; especially while sitting on the beach with a cool tropical drink, listening to Caribbean music and basking in the sunlight.

Yep, that's the ticket. Oh wait. I don't have a ticket. I guess I'll have to use my coupon and experience the "heat" on my deck.

Another Week

Greetings from Northern Virginia!  Ok, ok......maybe Quantico and Stafford are not quite Northern Virginia but we're close. 

After a week back at work, I'm pretty much caught up with all work projects. Now if I could only catch up on school work. Just like a fellow blogger, I'm having some difficulty writing 750-1000 words on the US' influence in the world.  It's not a hard subject to write about but I always like to add a little bit of a twist to it. Maybe it's that "twist" that is slowing me down.

By the way, if you didn't know, I am pursuing a BA degree in International Studies through the online college, American Military University. Great classes, great instructors, great access to tons of materials. I have been attending for a little over 18 months and continue to enjoy the classes. My goal is to have a BA by next Summer. 

No major plans for this weekend. School work. Laundry. Dishes. Sorting through a room for Goodwill and charity items. I have a few letters to write and some recorded television programs to watch.

That's it for now. Maybe I'll have more tomorrow. While the office is quiet, I think I'll deleve deeper into the globalization.

Back to Work!

After an eleven day hiatus, I am back to work. I had over 138 emails, 7 phone messages and numerous questions to answer. Not to worry!  I completed all of it in half a day.  Not bad! Not only that, I had to reverify and schedule conference spaces, get a new parking pass and relearn how to scan stuff on our copier again. But again, not to worry!

I'm sure life would be a little easier in the Bahamas or the Turks and Caicos. Like I said yesterday, I'm already planning for our next vacation.  Maybe not on paper, but certainly in my mind.

The ease and freedom I felt from laying on the beach with a cold alcoholic tropical drink and basking in the sun is a feeling hard to describe.

But I digress.  It's time to get back to work for the rest of the day. Maybe I'll win the lottery tonight and be back in the Bahamas this weekend!
