Another Monday

It's Monday and the day is winding down. I haven't written anything for over a week and some of you are getting a little antsy. So hear goes.

Last week was busy and hot. Busy because of the type of work that I do and hot, well, because the weather was just plain hot! For almost three days in a row the temperatures reached almost 100 degrees. Thankgoodness for airconditioning and cool water to drink. The hot weather combined with 12 to 14 hour days made for a long week. But I survived as did the other people I worked with.

But as I look back on it now, it really wasn't that bad. Ok, I had to get up early every day. I went home late every night. I sat down for only a few minutes at a time. Lunch was ok and the closeness of the men's room was nice. I got to sit in front of a fan when I needed and other than that, I was an overall happy camper. Really, who am I to complain?

Who am I to complain when there are American soldiers overseas battling the Global War on Terrorism. I don't have anybody trying to kill me. They do. I got to go home each evening. They cannot. I got to see my wonderful wife, kids and grandkids and hold them in my arms. They couldn't and may not be able to do so soon depending on their tour of duty. I felt safe in my bed. They wonder if a mortar is going to land in their tent. I drive down our Nation's highways with ease and comfort and safety. As they drive, they wonder if this will be their last day on Earth.

Yeah, I worked a lot of hours. Yeah, I sweat because the weather was hot. And yes, I slept in my own bed, protected by those who are sacrificing their time from their families and friends. Thank God for the American Soldiers. Semper Fi!

AMEN to that!!!

We really are a society of a bunch of whiney complainers (I do my fair share of it no doubt) but not a day goes by where I don't think about or pray for our soldiers!
