It's hot! Really hot! With the temps in the mid-90s, all you want to do is stay inside in the coolness of the air conditioner. If I lived close to the beach though, I'd be covered in sunscreen soaking in some rays. Such is life!
Tomorrow starts another week as we are winding down the month of August. Besides work, no school and playing with my grandchildren, I'm getting pumped for the Washington Redskins' first pre-season home game! YES! It's on Saturday night, 22 August, against the defending Super Bowl champs, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Should be an exciting time. I'll be taking my son with me.
Over the last few weeks, I have also been searching the the "perfect" 30th wedding anniversary trip. I have gone to Expedia, Travelocity, Cheap Tickets, Priceline and even Sandals. I have two locations in mind. One, Key West. Two, someplace in the Caribbean. Not sure where we'll end up. I'm just looking for a nice place at a reasonable price, where the food is good, the beach is nice and the drinks are cold. I'll let you know if I find the "perfect" spot.
In an earlier blog, I forget which, I had mentioned cleaning out clutter. This weekend has also been a decluttering weekend. Some stuff I put on ebay, other stuff (books) I put on Amazon. The idea of organizing a yard sale continues to escape me. Maybe next month.
And finally, my grand daughter will be starting school in September. She went for a "screening" last week and was found to be sufficiently "trained" in all the essentials before starting kindergarten. Now it's time to purchase school supplies, a back pack, some clothes and getting her motivated to attend.....Not that she isn't! While reading the welcome sheet brought home by her mother, I had flash backs from when my sons were about to enter school. Yes, some tears did form as I remembered those days. I ask myself, where have all the years gone? My sons are 23 and 28 now. One has his own family and the other is still "finding" himself. When I try to remember them as 5 year olds, my memory escapes me. Is this normal? I'll have to breakout some photos.
That's it for now. Time to eat a late lunch, set out my clothes for Monday and collect up the trash. Monday is trash day.
Have a great week! Stay safe. Stay cool, warm.....whatever the case may be. Lastly, enjoy the final weeks of summer. They go by waaaay too fast!
Aloha!
Rick
