It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

If you say so!  I personally prefer summer on the beach. But alas, I digress.  It's winter.  It's cold. It's rainy. Oh well.

But if I think hard, it can be a wonderful time of year as we move towards the holiday season and the end of another year.  When I think of this time of year, I think of:

- My family and how thanful I am for all of them to be alive and healthy. I'm also thankful that we'll be able to spend the holidays together. It wouldn't be the holidays if it weren't for family.
- Each holiday season, or for that matter, each major holiday throughout the year, I think of my fellow service members that are serving all over the world. Many people think of our servicemembers in a combat zone or in a dirty fighting hole someplace. Don't forget those that are stationed in other parts of the world and even in garrison assignments here in the US. We must not forget ANY of our servicemembers or take them for granted. They are the ones that help to keep America free from the oppression of terrorism and evil. God bless every last one of them.
- I think of the hungry, the poor, the homeless. How come we have not fixed this problem yet?  We have talked about it for decades on end, yet we find ourselves having massive food drives each year trying to feed those less fotunate and the homeless. So which president is going to be the one to bring hunger and homelessness to and end? God I hope somebody does it before my lifetime.
- I think of little children. Children that are cold, hungry, homeless, in environments I wouldn't let my dog live in. What is wrong with this picture?  What is wrong with America that we allow this to happen. Blam the Republicans?  Blame the Democrats? No! Blame the freaking government and all those in the "establishment" that are more worried about getting their own rather than helping those that really need help.

Ranting and Raving a bit?  YES I AM!  I'm frustrated with a government that has had thousands upon thousand of opportunities to fix what is ailing America and hasn't done so.  Have I lost my faith in America?  Sometimes.

Enough said.  I have lost my train of thought.  Time for me to figure out how I can help a homeless family, living in the slums of our Nation's capital, with no heat, no water, no food and no hope. Maybe I can brighten their day and make them believe that America cares about them.

Happy Holidays!
